About

Buddhist funerals

In Buddhism, it is believed that a soul reincarnates after departing from this world. Although there are different simplified versions of funeral rituals and rites in modern days, some Buddhists still prefer to adhere strictly to traditional Buddhist funeral procedures.
A Buddhist funeral is typically held at the deceased home and its nearest void deck or at a funeral parlour. Buddhists strongly believe in Karma alongside the fact that karma affects the reincarnation of a soul.

Prayers and chants are believed to assist the departed soul with a smooth transition in their afterlife. At such,  A monk will be present to officiate the funeral alongside an experienced funeral director. Chantings and prayers will be performed by the monk throughout the duration of the funeral. Families may choose to include other rites like sermons, eulogies, and meditations.
